Weighing up Auricall
against Vonage.
Vonage covers a lot of ground, from business phone service to communications APIs. Auricall is narrower on purpose. This page sets out what that narrower product contains, so you can judge whether the fit is better or worse for how your team actually works.
This is our page, so treat it as our side of the argument. We do not publish claims about Vonage’s pricing or features here — they change, and second-hand descriptions of someone else’s product age badly. Everything below is what Auricall does. Check it against Vonage’s own documentation.
What Auricall is built around.
Auricall is a finished product rather than a toolkit. Voice runs on a real carrier network underneath, but you configure numbers, menus and routing in a browser and get a working phone system the same day — with webhooks available when you do need to push events into your own systems.
Everything, on one account.
Auricall is one product rather than a bundle of separately licensed modules. This is the whole of it.
- UK numbers, search, purchase and free porting
- WebRTC browser calling and SIP desk phones
- IVR menus, ring groups and time-of-day routing
- Voicemail with transcription and a shared inbox
- Call recording with retention you configure
- Website live chat widget and shared chat inbox
- Internal team chat with groups and presence
- Contacts, companies, timelines and commitments
- AI summaries, insights and a grounded assistant
- Analytics with scheduled exports
- iOS and Android apps on the same account
- Webhooks for call and chat events
Switching honestly
Auricall is not a contact centre suite and does not do video meetings. If either is a hard requirement, we would rather tell you now than during a trial. What it does well is keep every conversation with a customer — call, chat or voicemail — on one record that the whole team and the AI layer can read.
Moving from Vonage
Call and chat events are delivered by webhook as they happen. Auricall is a product first rather than a communications API platform — if you are building on top of raw APIs, that is a different kind of tool.
Buying a number and configuring routing takes minutes. Porting an existing number takes longer, typically around ten working days for UK geographic numbers.
Yes for UK geographic numbers, and the number keeps working throughout the port.
A monthly subscription with no contract term.
Try it before you commit to anything
Set up a number, build a menu, make a call and read the transcript. It takes about ten minutes and tells you more than any comparison table.
